From Betty Nelson, Swede Nelson's widow, came a tribute to him in a letter to the Denver Post which I quote in part: "Dr. Nelson was the first doctor in Colorado to give a complete blood transfusion to a baby with Rhesus incompatibility in which a Rhesus-negative mother carries a Rhesus-positive fetus. The operation was done in September 1947, and the baby whose life Dr. Nelson saved was my son, Raymond, born September 13, 1947, now 41. —Elizabeth Daws Sturns, Denver."

Eric Wollaeger wrote that he is almost completely retired from practicing medicine, but does attend weekly medical lectures at the Mayo Clinic. A grandson of Liese and Eric is a freshman at the College, a soccer player, and a member of the JV hockey team.

Cynthia and Charlie Babbitt, after deciding four years ago to find winters warmer than those around Lake Morey, stayed a couple of months last winter in Myrtle Beach. This resulted in plans to head there in January 1989 for perhaps three months including stops along the way and visits in the Carolinas.

Si Leach wrote that one of his granddaughters had early-decision acceptance for the class of 1993 and that he was mighty proud of the young lady whose father is son Norman '65.

Jack Weisert is helping in our Red Rolfe campaign, having sent a great letter [see box] to George Vecsey, sports columnist of The New York Times, recalling an anecdote about Red in a senior Shakespeare course. I'll get a copy to Bill Wendell in the event he has space in his newsletter. Jack, using old-fashioned remedies for curing bronchitis, seemed in great shape.

Norm Chandler '32 wrote that Sally Dodge, daughter of our Rod Dodge, wrote that her mother, Rod's widow, died on October 24, 1988. Sally is assistant golf pro at Pebble Beach where the Chandlers have known her for several years. She also wrote that Bill Blue '61 is the new LPGA commissioner, a fact which Norm suggested would interest the Dartmouth community.
