It was in the works for a long time, but how quickly our 50th Reunion seems to have come and gone. At least that's my feeling, and I'll bet it's shared by most of those who made the scene, 193 classmates, 140 other mates (at least for the moment), and seven widows from among the survivors of 198 de0ceased '41ers. (Spider Paul was the last to die before the event.) The memorial service helped to bring all of us together in spirit including, by my calculations, 292 breathing brothers who did not join the festive foregthering for fifty It was wonderful; see details below.

First, some leftovers from before reunion. Bruce Brown, now living in Seattle, put some space between himself and the rest of us in June: took off for Alaska to research his grandfather's years on an island in the Bering Sea. Note of thanks from Betty Lord-Wood for the memorial book in Ev's name that the class has given to the College library. "Dartmouth has been very important to him," his wife wrote. From Dick Jachens a card reporting the move from apartment to house—both in Sarasota. From Jake Jachens to Jake Gidney another note to record the latter's having been named an honorary member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. This goes to CPAs who have belonged to AICPA for 40 years. SpifLittle's letter told of his mini-reunion with Bud Riley and Chick Weisker during a skiing holiday in France and Switzerland. HalNewell, who works at law and plays at golf, wrote to Steve Winship about having attended the memorial service in Washington for Jack Trant. Couple of letters from DonHanks, the first to get after me about a follow-up donation for the 50th's class gift to the College (same from Art Hills), and the second one written shortly before his return from Florida to New York's Big Green Farms "to get the corn planted by reunion time." Class officers weekend, late April, had us represented by Dan Provost, Bob Tepper, Bill Hotaling,Unc Richardson, Hills and, standing in for me, Vic Schneider. Finally, several deaths to be reported here: Frank Woodward's, more than a year ago, in Florida, from emphysema, as well as Jim Wallace, Frank Brooks and, as indicated above, Everett Lord-Wood. And add, from reunion news, the demise of JackDevor, Bill Lewis, and Dick Tuttle.

Beautiful weather favored us at the 50th from registration Friday through Commencement Sunday. It was a wonderful weekend in every respect. The class gift to the College exceeded $600,000, and this amount will grow. Class election results saw Gus Broberg returned as vice president, Art Hills taking over from Hugh Kenworthy as treasurer, and DonStillman besting Dan Provost in the balloting for president. Dick Jachens, your new class secretary, will have a full report from reunion in his first column of class notes in September's DAM. From me it's Be Well and Farewell.
