"It's a good thing we don't get all the government we pay for."—Will Rogers The class of 1986's Volunteer Initiative Project (VIP) is our special way of taking up where the government left off. It is our class effort at voluntarism, and it is happening all over the country. The 'B6 group in each city is choosing a special cause that needs help, and then taking action. For example, in Chicago, Art Krissinger is heading up a group of '86s that is helping homeless children, many from shattered homes who have a history of drug use. The project there is so far a great success and has been valuable to the volunteers as well. (It's a great way to catch up with classmates, too.) In San Francisco, AdelaidePearson Hulbert (Greg's wife!) leads a group of 'B6s who volunteer their time at a local youth center. If you would like more information on whom to contact in your city, or if you would like to start a group yourself, call Alex Rossides, 212/249-3261 in Manhattan, or Alison Barlow, 301/366-5273 in Maryland.
