42 From Dick King's May postcard miraculously relayed to me by my Guardian Aigel at the DAM: "The Kings of Hawaii are having fun in Hilo. Two of their seven children live in Hawaii. Their daughter, Codie Mary, just produced triplets (one boy, two girls), which adds up to ten grandchildren. The family is great—Jeff King, captain Colgate U. football team 1980 and All-Eastern defensive tackle, has M.A. from Kellogg School of Business, Northwestern. Woody King, U. of Arizona, captain football team 1966, all-WAC. Randy King has two master's degrees. More to come ... see you at Reunion."
Yes Dick, we did see you and Winnie at the Fantastic 50th but forgot to congratulate you on picking up three grandchildren in that spectacular manner. We'll look forward to your next postcard installment.
That reminds me—I never did give all of you a report on your reunion book questionnaire responses regarding children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. (What a segue!) Remember, these conclusions are based on the 375 bios received, so there may well be some other classmates (i.e. non-respondents) who would contest them. Fine. Write to me.
MOST CHILDREN: Bob Campbell and Hans Huessy are tied for first place with 11 each. Lindy Di Fabio (who died last Octo- ber) had ten children, and BernieTeichgraeber has nine.
MOST GRANDCHILDREN: TedDunn and John (Jo) Wester are far in the lead with 21. In Dunn's case, however, 11 of the 21 were acquired in 1985 when he married Ann Alene after the death of his first wife, Eleanor. Wester's 21, on the other hand, are apparently all the progeny of the seven children of Jo and his wife, Anita. Among others with substantial numbers in this category are Don and JaneMeads with 16 from their seven children, and reporting 14 grandchildren are Dale and JeanBartholomew (eight plus six step), Lindy DiFabio, Bob and Kate Garwick, and Cliff andSue Roberts.
MOST GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Since only eight classmates reported any greatgrandchildren, it seems appropriate to list them all. One may assume, however, that a few more unreported "GGs" may have been born since the questionnaires were received. FredHuntley is the clear winner with 6 greatgrandchildren, but it's quite possible that some of those are step-GGs. Joe Nason and BudPogue each have two GGs. With a fine sense of symmetry, Joe Nason has two children, two grandchildren, and two GGs, whereas Pogue has four, 11, and two. Finally, those with one great-grandchild are Jim Kellers, JohnScolaro, Bob Searles, Ed Spiegel, and DickWilson (who died last year).
Don't forget to WRITE! This is a very nice town, but I don't run into too many '42s up here.
