'As we gear up for the big reunion, the news of classmates seems to be coming in at a faster pace. Joe Simeone has been promoted to professor of radiology at Harvard Medical School. Joe says the promotion was the second best thing to happen to him—after being named most valuable player on the Massachusetts General Hospital men's softball league. Joe serves zs the director of ultrasound at Mass General.

In case you missed the last issue of Dartmouth Life or any number of other mailings (difficult to imagine, for as my wife asks, what would a day be like without mail from Dartmouth?), our very own Tom Rath is a candidate for alumni Trustee. After eight years as attorney general for the State of New Hampshire, Tom is now specializing in public policy with the firm in Concord, N.H., where he is a partner. Tom was recently appointed by President Bush as a director of the Legal Service Corporation. It goes without saying that in addition to College affairs, Tom has been active in Republican politics.

If you like cloak-and-dagger thrillers, be sure to catch the latest adventures of LarryBarcella in "Lawyers, Guns, and Money" by Peter Maas in the January 1992 issue of Esquire. You may recall that Larry gained a great deal of notoriety as a prosecutor for the Department of Justice where, among other cases, he pursued Edwin P. Wilson, the CIA operative who supplied arms to Qaddafi. Now in Washington with a private practice that represents Antigua, among other countries, Larry was brought into a case that involved Israeli weapons being supplied to the Medellin drug cartel by way of Antigua, characters worthy of the best spy novel, and ominous implications of the world arms trade. The dramatic story of Larry's tenacity as an investigator is well worth reading. What a way to earn a living!

If your calendar doesn't have big green circles around June 18-21, go immediately and save the date. Hanover will be the place to be. Think about the zre-reunion trip for some relaxation and hiking in the White Mountains also.
