Just when I was beginning to feel my age, a recent phone call from Bill Bogardus gave me a whole new perspective. It seems Bill was working on his roof and contemplating the fact that he will turn 50 in only two years. Not wanting to face this momentous occasion alone and recognizing that this is certainly as good an excuse for a PARTY as anything, Bill has declared the first weekend of May 1995 to be our 50th birthday. He is setting up a committee to plan a weekend blowout in Washington, D.C., with the possibility of a West Coast party if there is interest. It sounds great to me. So save the date, and let Bill know if you would like to volunteer to help with the plans.

Also for your calendar planning are two other events. A mini-reunion and executive meeting have been planned in Hanover after the Harvard game, October 30. Also, the next 1967 on Broadway evening is tentatively set for April 30, featuring a new Jerry Zaks play. Details will follow from Bill Yaggy.

This month's mail brought a write-up on Pete Norris, who is the Upper School director at the Breck School in Minneapolis. It was filled with praise for Pete's leadership, which brought Breck recognition as a Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. One educator praised Pete by saying, "rarely have we seen a man of such fine intellect, depth, and compassion."

The July/August edition of American Photo magazine features a piece on Ned Gillette. For those who didn't have the chance to see Ned's presentation at reunion, the magazine is worth checking out just for the incredible photo of Ned crossing the Drake passage to Antarctica in a rowboat. However, I don't understand why there was no photo of DonKlein on his cross-Atlantic swim.

Send me your news.
