From Top Gun to One L. For the last several years, former soccer star Richard Brown has been flying naval jets all over the world. He has now retired his uniform and purchased a briefcase; he will be starting Columbia Law School this fall.
Todd and Diane Scantlebury are anxiously awaiting the birth of a little Scantle. They live in Flagstaff, Ariz., where Scants (and Rick Swanson) design products for W. L. Gore & Associates, a medical technology firm. Scants recently completed construction of an artifical heart that makes the Jarvik 7 look like a Model T. Free installation included in the price of our 15 th Reunion. Several classmates have reported that Otho Kerr's apartment recently burned down. Otho, a managing director (?) at Goldman Sachs, is living out of his new Saab. If any '79s in the Big Apple have a spare bedroom, give Otho a call.
Steve Higgins has been living in Sweden since graduation. A former hockey player, he is now coaching fall time.
Two classmates have returned to the Hanover Plain. Sam Abel is a professor in the Drama Department; he previously taught drama at DePaul University. Ana Colleen Sullivan Bartlett is an associate director of the College's major gifts program. So if you've been promoted, or grandma has finally turned over the fat trust fond, as class counsel I advise you not to tell Colleen.
Recent mergers and acquisitions. T. Weymouth has announced his engagement to Lucy Gratz, a graduate of Yale and Vanderbilt Law. T. and Lucy are associates in the D.C. office of Hogan & Hartson; the amount of their combined income is a subject of frequent speculation by Hank Young and me. The wedding is scheduled for early October in D.C.—T. has promised members of Zeta Psi a huge bash featuring fogcutters at the Iranian embassy.
On April 18, Paul Centenari married Elisabeth McDavitt on Martha's Vineyard. The newlyweds met in Denver. Elisabeth is an agent for models and actors. (She is going to land me a position in an Ultra Slim-Fast commercial.) Paul and his brother Peter own and operate a container company in Baltimore. They are known around town as "J.R. and Bobby."
Finally, on January 28, 1990, Betsey Arledge Kirk gave birth to a 6 lb. 5 oz. girl Meredith Jean, a talented documentary producer and a shoe-in for the class of 2012.
