This month's column is about synchronicity the simple lines of our '88 lives intertwining in ways even we cannot explain. Begin with David Leddy, who writes that after spending a year in Chicago rooming with Josh Low, he's now in Boca Raton, Fla., where he directs the marketing department for a health-care consulting firm. David and Josh both attended Brad Winslow's wedding last December in Chapel Hill, N.C. Also on hand were Rich Reisman, Josh Stein,John Coffin, Andrew Felder, and David"Swamp" Abramson.
Several of these same people were at Mr. Coffin's wedding in Atlanta earlier this summer, which was reported by Dave "Duck"Duckenfield. Brian Corcoran, BillKomaroff, Chris Balish, Jimmy Rousseau,Rob Hess, Andy Lerner, and MargieWallace Gibson were also there. Mr. Duckenfield himself is joining the U.S.Foreign Service this month after getting his master's in international relations from Johns Hopkins and working at a Washington law firm.
Dave's freshman roommate, Steve Smith, was the subject of a front-page profile in The Washington Post back in May; Steve, who grew up on the mean streets of Anacostia in southeast D.C., was one of the top ten graduates of the Virginia Law School last year. He and his wife, Lora, and two children are now back in D.C. while Steve clerks for a U.S. Court of Appeals judge. If those facts aren't enough to impress you, drop me a line and I'll send you a copy of the story.
In case you're worried that everyone is studying medicine, law, or international affairs, Adam Rabiner is starting Ph.D. studies this fall at the Rutgers U. urban planning and policy development program, this after getting his master's in May from the Heinz School of Public Policy in Pittsburgh. "Perpetual student status is what I'm shooting for," says Adam. Able to relate to that statement is StephanieWelsch-Lewin, who writes that, "After having done the corporate thing for a while, the ethical aspirations are returning, and graduate school may loom in the near future." Stephanie also says that she's "happily married, working hard, and sharing the ups and downs of living with a caring husband, a loving family, and super friends." What more could you ask for?
Well, a signature. I recently received a postcard from Wisconsin full of good news and complete with a lovely picture of dairy cows but it's unsigned. The author is requested to write back and claim his or her news.
