Charlie Macdonald, originally from Madison, Wise., learned much about New England during his four years at Dartmouth, which later led him to find a home in the Boston area. His retirement home with wife Helen Clare overlooked Rockland (Mass.) harbor until his health became a problem and recently required him to take up residence at Deaconess Association near Emerson Hospital in Concord, Mass. Your secretary paid him a visit and found that he was pleased with his establishment and the care provided there.

Dick Mann, Boston, Mass. (originally Quechee, Vt.), certainly one of our active undergraduate skiers on the team, writes that now we should only have to sit back with a stein at our elbow and read a good book. Could any reader explain why this just does not happen?

Bill Mitchell, Washington, Pa., was with us freshman year coming from Portland, Conn. He transferred to Wesleyan, graduating Phi Beta Kappa, then earned an M.A. degree, and taught at Wesleyan and at Yale, earning a Ph.D. at the latter. After all his learning he taught at several more colleges and universities. He still remembers that one year at Dartmouth friends, the cold winter, Cube cabin, the ski jump, chapel and enjoys getting yearly class birthday cards.

A 90th birthday card went to retired geologist Lou Conant, who lives with his wife, Georgie, at an Episcopal lifetime community in Cupertino, Calif. The card was mailed to him on September 6, 1993 it just so happens that Lou and Georgie were married on September 6, 1930. Happy 63rd anniversary!
