Upward Bound

The helicopter hoisting the first of 13 towers up Winslow Mountain signaled the start of a new era at the Dartmouth Skiway. This winter, the new four- seat quad chairlift is whisking 1,800 skiers an hour to the top. The equipment is the culmination of several years of deliberation over the fate of the Skiway—which not only had a worn-out lift but faced possible closure.
