Mea culpa. Somehow the wrong reunion date made the winter issue; I swear I was out of the loop, and I beg your pardon. To rectify the mistake, I attempted to write an entire column with phrases "Fifth Reunion" and "June 18-20," the correct date, in every sentence. Read these sample sentences and see why I abandoned the idea:

• I was feeling hot and thirsty, as one inevita- bly will from June 18-20, so I drank a Fifth of Reunion rum.

• Beethoven's Fifth, a Reunion of melody and tempo that's always aurally arousing, will be played by the philharmonic June 18-20.

• At die arraignment, the defendant took the Fifth; Reunion of the charges was rendered impossible, and the trial was set for June 18-20.

Try it sometime. Meanwhile, Reunion Entertainment Chairs Diane DePriest and Laura Sweeney are seeking baby pictures of us for a naming contest during the reunion weekend. Send your infantile photos to Diane c/o Purnell School, Pottersville, NJ 07979, or to Laura at 260 Grove St., Apt. 4A, West Roxbury, MA 02132. Don't forget to include identification. Photos will be returned in June.

Now for news: Not one but two letters from Paul Mandel, who not only confirmed his and India Wood's marriage but passed along some more news about guests at the wedding. RichLombard, Dick Manuel, and Kristi Heesch were in the party. Bill Spencer, MikeSullivan, Eben Haber, Mark Kelsey, and Wayne Weil were on hand to wish the couple well. Paul and India honeymooned in France and are now living in Cambridge, Mass., with cat Boris. Paul is practicing probate, tax, and real-estate law with a Boston firm, and India travels widely in an effort to open newmarkets for Riverside Publishing Company, the testingdivision of Houghton-Mifflin.

How's this for thoughtfulness; a non- Dartniouth grad at Maine Law School took the time to write and inform us of big news in the lives of Jean Downey Wulff and ElaineMichaud. Jean got her J.D. last December, but not before giving birth to a healthy, eight- pound baby girl, Allison Marie, on November 25. Jean and her husband, Lieutenant Ziggy Wulff, then moved to Corpus Christi, Tex., so the proud papa could finish up his navy commitment. Elaine and a classmate won the Region I finals of the National Moot Court Competition and competed in the national contest in January (no outcome reported yet). Elaine also was named Best Oral Advocate at the Regionals; she graduates in May.

Holiday greetings came from PaulWlod kowski, who recendy returned from a tour of aerospace facilities in Russia. Paul's in the doctoral program in engineering materials at the University of Maryland, and he says he's enjoying the D.C. nightlife with his wife, Layla, and their dog Romulus. How psyched the Wlod kowskis must have been when Eric Clapton managed to put "Layla" in the Top 20 again!

Paul reports that Stephen Huettner is a nuclear engineer who works in support of the Department of Energy in Germantown, Md., and that D. Rex Hamilton is an independent consultant in the medical imaging industry and is applying to med schools. Jeff Crandall, meanwhile, is completing his Ph.D. in me- chanical engineering at the University of Virginia.

Finally, a big announcement: Barb Turley found a lump of highly refined coal in her Christmas stocking and wound up engaged to Scott Marr. The wedding is set for July 31 in Barb's hometown of Rye, N.Y., and it will no doubt be a bit of a post-Reunion mini-reunion in itself. They'll be moving in the fall, depending on where Scott goes to medical school. Next month, some more news from Barb's letter and maybe even the right Reunion dates. June 18-20, of course.
