MUSIC PROFESSOR JON Appleton's new choral work, "Our Voyage to America," had its premiere in Moscow's Tchaikovsky Hall earlier this year. Appleton is also completing a commission by the city of Nice, France, for a 1,000-voice children's choir. And Louis Burkot, director of the Glee Club, has also been appointed music director of Boston's Opera New England and will conduct its forthcoming touring production of The Barberof Seville.
