After regrettable tardiness '22 is happy to congratulate classmate Malcolm D. Clarke on his induction into the New England Lawn Tennis Association Hall of Fame. As The New York Times reported, "Clark, a former Latin, French and Spanish teacher, has won 33 national tides in the last 12 years" (as of January 1991). He also won three additional national doubles championships (with partner led Wolf '30) in 1992. At age 90 he was the oldest person with such a record in any athletic competition, reported Sports Illustrated magazine in the December 1992 issue. So the class heartily congratulates Mai. We are not surprised, though, because we know how he entered Dartmouth at age 16 yars and three months in September 1918. He was a member of our distinguished Company I in the Student Army Training Corps. In 1921 he was a letter-winning end on the football team. In 1922 he graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He received his A.M. from Middlebury and taught in secondary schools more than 40 years. .And this may give some indication as to why '22 was so pleased to have Mai and his son Mai Jr. '57 at our 70th Reunion last vear.
Leaving us in sorrow. Howard P. Almond died January 29 in Oakland, Calif. An obitu- ary will follow.
Avoid the midday sun, and have a good summer.
