At Class Officers Weekend in May, 1929 was recognized with a special award, and the classmates present, Dick Black, Charlie Dudley, Bill Magenau, and Hal Ripley, proudly accepted it, up front and center. All of you must have read the citation in Art Nighswander's newsletter, and must have as I did enjoyed the light-touch references to the Wellfleet oyster and gourmet meals at the mini-reunions.

Again this year Dartmouth was favored with a sparkling sunny day for Commencement, and as usual I felt it a privilege to be there. One of the honorary-degree recipients was Bill Moyers, who also gave the address to the graduating students. I thought his talk was very good, and well sprinkled with a wonderful sense of humor. I spotted Tom Brokaw, the newscaster, walking around with a camera hanging from his neck like any proud father. His daughter graduated from the Medical School.

Since May issue the class has lost six members: Dick Burke, Allan Finlay, Dave Mcintosh, John Meaney, Ed Merkel, Wes Nord. They will all be gready missed, and we extend our deepest sympathy.

On a happier note, on May 22 our younger son, Richard '78, was married to Carrie Bickford. Our eight granddaughters were bridesmaids and flower girl, while our only grandson was among the ushers. Dartmouth was well represented by members from classes in the twenties, thirties, forties, and seventies attending, and it was a beautiful day. Richard works as a project assistant to U.S. Senator Judd Gregg of New Hampshire. He majored in government and history at Dartmoudi, and he feels very much at home and comfortable in the political arena after two years in the New Hampshire legislature.

Classmates want to hear or read about other classmates. Please help me by either writing or calling to let us know what is happening in your lives.

Now for Rip's turn: My thoughts are myopic on so many topics It's silly to put them in words. My scribbling antics defy all semantics; This whole thing is really absurd. I wonder, is it ever done To rhyme in rhythm just for fun?
