On July 21 Pete Fitzherbert, with the help of daughter Nancy, put on a lobster feed for just under 100 close friends and family at Lost Valley Lodge in Auburn, Maine. The class of '36 was represented by 33 classmates, spouses, and friends, including one not seen for a while, MartyBrown. The other groups represented were the Dunlap Insurance Agency, where Pete worked for so many years, and his coffee group who gather in Auburn every morning to discuss the latest news of the world and each other. The hostesses for Pete's party were the previously mentioned Nancy and her two charming daughters, Claire and Rebecca. With an open bar starting at 4:30, and a Downeast dinner at 6:30, complete with chowder, steamed clams, lobster, and birthday cake for dessert, this was quite a party! Pete seemed to be really pleased with the proceedings in spite of a lengthy roasting contributed by one of his coffee-club friends, and the rest of us had a most enjoyable evening. Thank you, Pete and Nancy.

A while ago I reported that Eddie andMona Chamberlain had moved to Lyme, but apparently that was a temporary situation. The word is that they have now settled in New London, and their address is 23 Everett Park, New London, NH 03257

Paul Guibord had open-heart surgery on August 8 but was doing fine a week later, and Jackie was confident that his recovery would be complete.

On a very sad note, as you read this many of you will have heard long ago of the death of our class president, Bill Macurda, on August 14. However, as I write this, soon after it happened, it is difficult to take in the news of his sudden and apparently completely unexpected heart attack. We offer our prayers and sympathy to Mim and their children.

A memorial service was held for Bill at the White Church in Hanover onAugustl7.The service was attended by many of Bill's friends from the area, including some 23 representing the class of'36. Vice President Art Toan has taken over the duties of the presidency.
