Our mini-reunion is only days away—and the big New Orleans reunion—"A Taste Of New Orleans," will be here soon.
A full weekend of activities is planned for Dartmouth Night weekend, October 14—16, according to Class Treasurer Ivar Jozus, who is acting mini-reunion chair. You can attend most weekend activities at the last minute. We always need more participants in the torchlight parade on Dartmouth Night.
Saturday morning, we'll have a class meeting at 9:30 a.m. in 101 Dartmouth Hall— Class President Art Kelton is flying in from Colorado to lead it—followed by our picnic at 11:30 a.m. on the deck at Fayerweather Hall. The class dinner is several hours after the game, so there will be plenty of time to run, work out, socialize, or shop in Hanover. Sunday morning Ron Boss is hosting a brunch at his condo from 10 a.m. to noon.
Plan now to attend "A Taste of New Orleans," our reunion in New Orleans from Thursday, April 20 to Sunday, April 23, 1995. Note the change in dates. Ken Kolb, joined by his wife, Carolyn, and James (Roach) Roussel and his wife, Louise, have built a weekend around sampling the breadth of New Orleans cuisine. Home base will be the Hotel Monteleone in the French Quarter. "Everything will be in strolling distance; no cars will be necessary," Ken said.
Though events are planned for early arrivals, the first main event is a Friday cocktail party on the ninth floor of a condominium building in the garden district with a sweeping view of the city, said Ken. Dinner will be in the Bella Luna Restaurant over- looking the Mississippi.
A "creole jazz brunch" will follow a Saturday-morning class meeting at Commander's Restaurant in the garden district. The afternoon will be free to explore. Saturday dinner will be on the 16th floor of the Hotel Monteleone; everyone will get to sample 13 entrees—the proof of the underlying theme. The cost for all events, including food, beer and wine, will be $265 a person; the hotel is $130 a night.
Ken is planning a series of mailings, but if you have questions, call him at (504) 861 - 8158. His office is at home.
Other gatherings of '61s are occurring around the country as well, and we encourage more of them. For example, OscarArslanian's committee from Dartmouth Goes Hollywood got together at David andMarianne Gordin's house in Santa Barbara. High on the agenda was viewing stacks of pictures from last year's event, along with a dinner of Italian cuisine and an El Encanto Hotel brunch. We hope to have details in the November issue. And Art indicated he's planning a ski trip to his part of Colorado for classmates in late January or early February.
Art said that Rev. Duane Cox and JohnHadley had agreed to join our class executive committee. He's looking for more volunteers. We're planning a new class directory, probably for December or January, and we'd like to add two pieces of information that are key in today's world: your fax number and your e-mail address. My fax number is (910) 716-4587; my e-mail address is . Please send yours to either of those addresses or the address below as soon as possible.
