While Jeff Corelitz is waiting for his new book to hit the stores, he continues to skillfully navigate his famous sailboat Sales Call about Chesapeake Bay. Having just relocated from rural Arizona to Baltimore myself, I have first-hand experience as one of Jeffs crew, and can testify that he can captain his ship under the most difficult conditions. "Ling" was there in June in Hanover in full force with "Black" Al King, Jay Conger, Bill Hart, Abdo Yazgi, Kirk Hinman,Tom Meyer, Marc Kilbride, Fred Wearn, and Rick Woolworth (you guys know who you are), who were all complaining about the obvious absence of Randy Barnett. Because of Tex's absence, the traditional Class of '74 Reunion Marathon Poker Game could not be held, but the usual participants did leave on Sunday with more money in their pockets than they'd ever had after previous reunions. Also missing were Judd Fitze, Frank Cole,Hugh Tackaberry, Bill Sakomoto, GaryNelb (Giddyap Cowboy!), Neil Smith (you'd better call me, Neil), and John Haulenbeek, obviously all intimidated that Tex might show up.

Whit Wall traded many stories with PeterHolden (but not, of course, without an audience) about their roommates Tim Fahey and Ed "Curly" Sauer (now regretfully deceased) and was still trying to find a shoe he'd lost behind Bones Gate fraternity in the spring of '74. Chris Pfaff, Gerry Bowe, BillNewcomb, and Dave Cranshaw validated Whit and Peter's tales, which seem to get better every five years. It was also good to see Jack "Jet" Thomas, who reminded me of his brilliant marketing techniques to hype roller derby at Alumni Gym during Green Key Weekend junior year. (That reminded me that I had asked a woman sitting in my "head usher" chair at the Poco/Linda Rondstadt concert to vacate, only to realize a minute later that it was Linda herself.)

Mike Pancoe and Jeff Stewart apologized yet again for Jack Stewart's obvious absence. Jack, if Kevin Chee can wing it from Honolulu, surely you can hop a freight train in '99. Emily Foley informed me that she's looking for work as a back-up singer with either Bob Dylan or George Clinton. BillDeevy reminisced with Mike Draznik about Tony Lupien's roadtrips and was looking for John Cone, C.K. Kromback, and Bob Nuffort. Trip Heard made sure that everyone's pulse rate was slow and regular, while Tomand Judy Cstari still look as happy as they did senior year (maybe I should have the two of you write this column). And Ernie Page told of the great outdoor life in Utah.

As is usually the case in these affairs, you always seem to ran out of time to spend with everyone you remembered. I wished for one more day to talk to Carlton Frost, Steve Bell, Bruce Stuart, Steve Furber (who got married since we spoke last in '89—congrat- ulations, Furburger!), Bill Geiger, Jim "Pork Roll" Taylor, Timmy Gilchrist, Tom Guidi, Gary Kraemer, Ken Marable, Matt Putnam, Dick Searles, Tom Tread- well, and Steve Sandberg. And by the way, Steve, your charge is to roust Howard Chesshire, Purnell Delly, Steve Hagedorn, Lex Chalko, Gary Morton, Steve Koenig, and Dave Sweet to the Hanover Plain in five.

More again next month. Please feel free to call me at home, (410) 339-7136, or work, (410) 828-3244, or write me with any news, address and phone number requests for other classmates, or constructive criticism. Peace, love, and Woodstock.
