The Old Gray Lady (as The New York Times is sometimes known) has been trying for a year or two to make its more moribund sections (like Real Estate and Help Wanted) more interesting and relevant. I have noticed particularly their spruce-up of the weddings section, as I scan it regularly for column fodder. One cool thing they did was to create a "featured wedding" article. One wedding each week is covered by a writer from the paper. They interview the bride and groom, find out how they met, what kind of wedding they are having etc. I don't know how they decide who to cover from the hundreds of weddings announced, but it is quite a nice column, and one often finds oneself reading it, even though one has no clue who these people are. So it was a pleasant surprise to find EricHuckaby's wedding featured recently. According to the article, Eric is Governor Cuomo's deputy director for Black Affairs, and he first met Nancy Wolfe at the Raccoon Lodge in New York (N.Y.C. readers know this is an infamous Dartmouth hangout on the Upper West Side). Their first conversation got hot and heavy into issues of constitutional law, and they clicked right away. Both Eric and Nancy are also involved in making children's lives better—Eric founded a youth hockey league which now boasts 200 kids, while Nancy teaches fourth grade at the Cathedral School up in Morningside Heights. The article has a huge photo of the couple lighting a candle at their wedding, and ends with a great quote from Nancy: "Eric's my best friend, and I get to legally hang out with him for the rest of my life." Congrats, you guys!

Newport, R.I., in the summer is always a great place to run into Dartmouth folks, situated as it is midway between Boston and New York, and a jumping-off point for the Vineyard and Nantucket. For the last several years my family has been going to the Ben & Jerry's Newport Folk Festival, mingling with an eclectic and mellow group of folks gathered for two days to listen to the likes of the Indigo Girls, Cliff Eberhart, Randy Newman, Iris Dement, John Baez, Mary Chapin Carpenter, etc. This year at the festival I ran into Kim Booker. I twisted Kim's arm to spill some info on her classmates. Here are the four factoids she relayed: (1) Erica Lundquist recently married Randy Krog on the banks of Lake Tahoe. Eric apparently is pursuing a Ph.D. in agriculture in California. (2) Gregg Gorman and his wife Cathy just bought a place outside Washington, D.C. Gregg is in some kind of business that requires doing big deals and traveling to Japan (at least that's how Kim puts it). (3) SueJohnson is living in "Nawlins," La., working as the women's golf coach at Tulane. She met her husband, Andy, while working as a golf pro in Florida. (4) Kim Booker herself! Kim works as a CPA at Deloitte & Touche in Boston. She recently purchased a 100-year-old Victorian house and is slowly remodeling it.

A note just in from Jeff Weitzman: "Mini- reunion! It's not too late to join your classmates in New York City for our Big Apple weekend mini-reunion, October 21-23. Events include dinner, a show, brunch, and lots of fun." Call Jeff at (212) 692-7867 for details.

You'll notice a new address for me. We recently moved out of Brooklyn to Princeton, although I am still working at Booz in N.Y.C. There are mornings driving past the university and crossing the Millstone River on my way to the train station when I could swear I'm in Hanover. Life is strange.

Well, that's the news. Call, write, or fax; my in-box is empty.
