Well, we're into autumn now—surely a relief after this summer's heat and catastrophic floods and fires. I hope you're all well and thriving; better than my hoping, why don't you just write and tell me!

Stephanie Mullins graduated from the Chicago-Kent School of Law in June. For the past year she clerked at the Chicago Options Exchange. After taking the bar this summer, Stephanie intended to pursue a career in securities law.

Scott Smith's debut novel, A Simple Plan, has been adopted as a film project by wellknown director Mike Nichols. Fresh from the success of his first novel, Scott is presently working on a second. The Boston/Providence law firm of

Hinckley, Allen & Snyder announced that Robin DeAugustinis has joined the firm as an associate. Robin practices in the areas of real-estate law and commercial lending.

Jon Bigelow added a little spice to the graduation ceremonies of Kimball Union Academy last spring as the commencement speaker chosen by the senior class. Jon, who taught history at KUA, promised he would recite a poem naming every graduate, the topic of his or her history term paper, and junior-year GPA. Though he didn't get around to the aforementioned epic poem, he did recommend to the students that they go off and make their own mistakes, and not neglect opportunities simply because they were not scheduled. (Good advice even for us late twenty-somethings, I suppose.) Jon is a James Madison Fellow in history at the University of Indiana this year.
