I got a great note from class Vice President Amy Cammann Cholnoky this month. Amy had lots of news on the entertainment front. She spotted Richard Stillman on "Shining Time Station" doing his banjo-playing, tap-dancing thing. Then she informed me that Tom Ropelewski and his wife, Leslie Dixon, wrote, produced and directed "Look Who's Talking Now." In a supplemental note from the College, it turns out Tom pre-screened his first film, "Madhouse," at Dartmouth in 1990. The Film Society sure was great, wasn't it? Finally, Amy wondered if I was in any way connected to Michael J. Fox's new movie with him playing a hotel concierge named Doug Ireland. Just coincidence.

For Amy's own entertainment, she juggles her kids' schedules, volunteering for Dartmouth (including the Trustee Search Committee) and Concord Academy, and a new craze—shooting sporting clays. She says it's like smashing china plates, only better.

Our class officers submitted reports on their first years' activities to President MissyAsbill Attridge recently. The basic theme is we would love to have more people involved in class activities. Specifically, we would love more participation in class giving, ideas for projects with Dick's House, some ideas for mini-reunions, and more news for the secretary and the newsletter editor. All suggestions are welcome.

Sandy Wood checked in with some news from Hanover. Life for the Wood family definitely revolves around sports. Sandy and Bambi's kids' soccer teams posted 20-1-1 records this fall. This winter they have been skiing competitively four or five days a week, and they spend their summers windsurfing and playing tennis in Jamestown, R.I. If you've got the energy, look them up.

Doug Mavor took up the challenge last summer and ventured east from Bozeman, Mont., for a day with the Woods and managed a mini-septathlon of tennis, rollerblading, biking, soccer, windsurfing, and cliff-jumping. That may not be a sept, but what- ever it is, it's a lot. Doug returned home safely to his regular pursuit of driving nails through his thumbs as a custom builder.

Contrary to previous Class Notes comments, not everyone is having twins in the class. Barry Harwick wrote almost apologetically that he and his wife, Marcia, had a son Christopher in November. One is still a blessing. Another blessing was the timing of the arrival. Barry had to leave the next day so he could coach the Dartmouth crosscountry team to a district championship. The team went on to finish 13 th in the NCAA's. Congratulations on a productive November.

One of the rewards of being class secretary is occasionally connecting old friends. When I spoke to Shirin Ali Karanfiloglu this month, she was asking about LeslieKenney Finnertie. Having spoken to Leslie the month before, I was able to pass on news and phone numbers. Shirin has pursued an architectural career since graduation and recently completed a two-year project in lower Manhattan for the City of New York. Shirin married a business partner of hers two years ago and they spend what little free time they have in Newport, R.I.

I don't know why I have suddenly become aware of age, but as I (and probably most of us) approach 40, I can't help feeling proud of our class's energy, enthusiasm, and accomplishments, big and small. For so many of us at this juncture, life is a very full and there doesn't appear to be any slowing down. Stay young and stay in touch.
