As you may recall, last month's column contained a brief "grapevine" mention of Jeff McElnea. Soon after submitting it to Hanover, I had a letter from him offering more details: "Judy and I became the proud parents of an adopted baby girl, Joanna Lyn McElnea, born on January 4. Joanna joins a slowly maturing household of two teenage brothers (Bill and Patrick) and two too-rapidly maturing parents looking forward to a Dartmouth 25th too soon!

We're still living in Midtown Manhattan, but with a fast escape to the Connecticut shore (Madison) on weekends." Jeff continues as president and CEO of Einson Freeman Inc., a member of WPP Group (London), which also includes J. Walter Thompson, Ogilvy & Mather, and Hill & Knowlton (in Jeff's words, "the more famous brethren companies").

Leonid Turkevitch and his wife, Margaret, welcomed their December 12 arrival, daughter Julia Campbell. In May of last year, Leonid joined Kimberly-Clark's long-range R&D group in Rosewell, Ga., and moved his family (which also includes Elizabeth 10 and Paul 8) to Alpharetta, a short five-mile commute away. He reports "enjoying year-round tennis and running, after nine cold Cleveland winters."

This month's mail also included a nice personal note from Steve White which said little about himself; but from his letterhead I deduced he continues to practice law in San Antonio, now with his own name on the shingle. He also indicated that he is planning a trip "back East" this summer, which I suspect will be a sufficient excuse for a Tabard minireunion.
