Good to hear from Don Monaco recently, sharing with us his life-long love of flying. Seems it all began the first time he stepped into the cockpit of a Piper plane and flew after only two and one half hours of instruction. Don qualified for his commercial pilot's license on his 18th birthday while working for Piper. He spent the next four summers flying between Westerly and Block Island. He began a fly in" club at Dartmouth which grew to 60 members and two planes. After graduation, he went into the air force, where he flew SAC bombers during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and he also few 60 missions in Vietnam.

At the end of his tour of duty in Vietnam, he began a 26-year career with Pan Am. In 1988, when he was thinking of retiring from Pan Am, a position opened up in Berlin, and he was in Berlin when the Wall fell. Don retired from Pan Am in 1991. He now works for the Wings of Hope organization. They bring medical supplies into remote jungle areas. He is also in the process of starting a branch of Wings of Hope in Guatemala, where he has spent a good deal of time. Don says that he would also love to return to Block Island next summer. Who knows, maybe you'll make it back for our 35th, huh Don?

From one of the green cards returned to me we hear from Dick Finlay, who has left the big D."I now have a rebirth in life doing business in the "City Different,' Santa Fe, New Mexico. I invested in a short-line railroad—the Santa Fe Southern Railway Inc. Our major freight is beer—and it's a ball. Not much money yet, but we are developing our assets and plan a major expansion into the tourist trade this spring. Come visit our haven of good food, shops, and culture." Good luck, Dick, sounds like a lot of fun.

Hope your summer has been great. Let me hear from you—please share your summer with us. .
