Not long ago my wife, Paula, discovered a drink called Cran-Raspberry which she declares to be delectable, delightful, and delicious. Being of a more conservative nature I tend to distrust any drink without sufficient alcoholic content to kill the germs. So I haven't tried it. However, it did put me in mind, of course, of Makie Makepeace, our classmate who, as you may recall, had a corner on all the best cranberry bogs in Massachusetts. So, not having seen him since our last mini-reunion at the Norwich Inn, I gave him a call. The phone was answered by his daughter, who informed me her father was a bit under the weather and would not be able to take the call. This was disturbing news. Makie has always been a strong supporter of the College and the class, as well as being a delightful person. It seems only yesterday, probably a couple of years, since it was my duty to report the death of his lovely wife, Anne, one of our great ladies.
Van Van Benschoten has been living in Williamsburg, Va., since retirement and says he enjoys the atmosphere of the place, the peace and quiet. One wonders about the peace and quiet. Williamsburg is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the country.
I regret to report the deaths of Dank Folson on April 20 and Wilkie Wilkinson on May 20.
