I want to bypass much of the usual news to cover several items of class business in this month's column. The Reunion Committee, including Chairman Young Dawkins, Shel Prentice, Dave Mechlin, David Bellows, Lauren Cummings and John Burke, has been busy scheduling a full slate of activities for our 20th, June 14-16. Some of the weekend's events include the Friday evening alumni parade, reception at President Freedman's house, and die Glee Club concert at Spaulding Auditorium. Saturday activities include our class meeting, a session with President Freedman, and an outing/picnic at Red Rolfe Field, complete with a rock concert for the children featuring nationally
known kids' rock band Peggosus, led by PaulHodes and wife Peggo Horstmann. Later Saturday night, members of the class will gather to entertain us in Center Theater. Sunday will feature the Alumni Run and a memorial service at Rollins Chapel. These are just some of the events during what promises to be a great weekend—be there!
Our president, Pete Broberg, informs me that one of the business items to be considered in our class meeting will be an update on the class project. The Class of '78 has invited us to join them in support of the Native American Program, and other options will be discussed. We will also be electing officers to serve the six-year term leading up to our 25th Reunion in June of 1997.
Another item to be discussed is some way of improving communication among members of our class. We would like to try to capitalize upon high tech. Think about how you could use your telephone, fax, computer modem or VCR in a network of classmates. Do you already use e-mail or computer bulletin board services? Would you be interested in being able to contact ten or 100 classmates quickly, get up-to-date information and/or commentary on Dartmouth events via e-mail or a computer bulletin board? Are you interested in participating in a fax net or phone conference with class executive committee members? We need ideas and technical help from those of you with access to the technologies mentioned.
