Hockey powers settled before relegating the game to Moose Jaw. Baseball readies itself with replacement players. Would any one have noticed if I had sent in a replacement student in Math 41? If I wanted to watch minor-league baseball, I'd go to a minor-league park and pay minorleague prices. Enough!
Jon Fauer, of freelance photography fame, shot the 1994 KMart campaign. He alleges it was with Kathy Ireland of SI swimsuit fame. He did not enclose a photograph because, he claimed, it would make classmates jealous. Lame excuse for a photographer.
The January 8 Arts & Leisure section of The New York Times had a cover article on the economics of dance troupes and a cover picture of Pilobolus. While he didn't make the picture, Robby Barnett was quoted in the article regarding the lack of funding sources (or their drying up), with the result that Pilobolus did not make a European tour last summer for the first time since the seventies. (The annual budget for all of Pilobolus for 1994 equalled the salary of your average backup major-league baseball player. I understand the economics of both and can rationalize accordingly, but the juxtaposition of an article like this with those in the sports pages strikes too ironic a contrast to ignore.)
