"It's late September and I really should be back at school." This refers to a) New York City school children; b) Yasir Arafat and Yitzhak Rabin; c) Buck Showalter; d) Rod Stewart.
Lou Fantin and Dick White recently got together at Lou's home in Trenton, N.J., so that their three newborns could get acquainted. Lou is the proud father of twins born on July 27: Brooke Diana Fantin and Steven Louis Fantin. Lou also has a daughter, Jennifer, age three. Eric White was born on April 9 and receives plenty of attention from Janine 7 and Lisa 6. Lou is vice president and first assistant general counsel of Lenox in Lawrenceville, where he has spent 12 years. Dick is beginning his fourth year as director of Career Services at Rutgers University in New Brunswick.
A few quick notes were passed along from the College. Glen Hodgson was elected to the board of directors of Rieke Carroll Muller Associates Inc. in Minnetonka. Rags Bratz was part of a Dartmouth get-together somewhere in Norway. He managed to accomplish something increasingly rare among our classmates: he was the youngest member of this gathering. Wade Wheelock and his wife, Anne Marsh, have been called to the ministry of the Unitarian-Universalist Church of Canton. They recently received their Master of Divinity degrees from Meadville/Lombard Theological School in Chicago. For the past two years they have been student ministers for a Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship in Houghton, Mich. From 1978 to 1990 he was on the faculty of James Madison University where he was head of the Department of Philosophy and Religion. He also overheard prayers on Rush Street from Fred Crossman, regarding the Browns, the Indians, and Tanqueray and Tonic.
I received a really nice letter from Frank Chase '55, who lives in Baltimore and had great things to say about Stu Simms, Baltimore City States Attorney, and Gary Jordan, who is interim U.S. attorney for Maryland (he is the first assistant U.S. attorney for Maryland). Frank sent along an article about Gary which described his recent bout with cancer after a tumor was found in his leg. This required radiation treatment and eight subsequent operations. Gary has now returned to work, resuming his highly successful career as a federal prosecutor. The prognosis is guardedly optimistic, and we all wish Gary a rapid and complete recovery.
