September 1951. J.S.D. addresses the "largest gathering of Dartmouth students ever assembled in Hanover at a single time." The Alumni Fund sets a record Of 5577,262 ('54 as a class has surpassed that amount several times). The new Nugget opens. Mike Papantones is the first '54 to start a varsity football game at Center vs. Army. Varsity soccer beats U-Mass led by BudAddis's two goals and Bob Draubaugh's goal. Hugh Roberts ran for village trustee in Tarrytown N.Y. Unfortunately, not many Republicans get elected in Tarrytown. George Graboys was appointed by the Rhode Island governor as chairman of the Rhode Island Board of Governors for Higher Education. George is currently an adjunct professor at the University of Rhode Island's School of Business and is chairman of the Children's Crusade for Higher Education.

Your correspondent attended Class Officers Weekend during May along with BobBerry, Henry Robinson, Dick Lewis, PeteBarker, John Gillespie, Bob Adnopoz and Rick Hartman. The class received a special-recognition award from die College which acknowledged with deep appreciation the extraordinary achievements of the class as a "model for all classes to emulate."

Steve Mullins is chairman of the Evanston III Northlight Theater Company and is leading the organization's fight to save from demolition the historic Commonwealth Edison Substation so that the building can be converted into the theater's permanent home. Northlight is one of the largest not-for-profit theater groups in the Chicago area. The Substation is designated as an Evanston historical landmark and exemplifies the work of Chicago architect Herman von Hoist, who took over Frank Lloyd Wright's commissions when Wright moved to Europe. Steve did not say whether his involvement extends to acting.
Played a round of golf with Wally Anderson and Bud Addis. Wally's getting better, Bud and your correspondent, older.
Pete Barker's last newsletter spoke of Dartmouth inbreeding. How is this for the ultimate in '54 inbreeding? Luke Case's daughter, Genet May, gave birth to a daughter. The proud father is Ned May's son, Rusty May '82. As far as I know, the first '54 inbred errandchild.
