More about Dartmouth wives: Dave Sices reports that his wife is the only '54 wife who has taught at Dartmouth. Dave met Jacqueline when she was an exchange teacher from France at Dartmouth. She then returned and taught in the department of French, first as a lecturer and then as a senior lecturer from 1967 to 1989. Dave was on the faculty from 1957 to 1995.
Bob Higbee heads Higbee Associates Inc., an executive search company in Rowayton, Conn. Before founding this company in 1975, Bob had a career in marketing, management, and finance with Armstrong Cork, Revlon, and AuCo Corp., where he served as division president. Bob has suggested that some '54s may be interested in joining a network to function as an executive search recruiting and sourcing network. The Dartmouth recently profiled The Bregman Studio, which was made possible as the result of the generosity of Gerry Bregman. The studio, which is located in
Hallgarten Hall, is perhaps the best facility for computer-generated music available to undergraduate college students in the country. The studio offers "numerous gadgets and gizmos for those who are musicalmusic studio may be a hidden treasure for students wishing to write, compose, or create music." Research into new software for composing music and hardware for composing music takes place at the studio. The Synclavier Digital Synthesizer, an instrument used by performers including Michael Jackson, was developed there.
A recent article in The New York Times, "Still Arguing like Old Friends," related the long-time professional relationship of Bob Rafelson and Jack Nicolson. They have worked together for close to 30 years in six movies including Five Easy Pieces, The King of Marvin Gardens, Head, Easy Rider, and The Postman Always Rings Twice. Bob's latest movie, Blood and Wine, opened in February.
