Cliff Evans, Ned Freidman, Dick Gorsey, Bill Murane, Steve Mullins, Art Rauch, Tom Tyler and Jay Davis joined at the '54 ski reunion in Aspen and Vail. Father George Fitzgerald joined them for dinner in Vail. Jay reports that they "had magnificent weather and great conditions."
The fourth annual '54 Golf Classic was held in late February at the Plantation Inn in Crystal River, Florida, chaired by Rick Hartman and Tom Kelsey.Twenty-one classmates and 18 spouses-including first-timers Marie and Dave Dame, Carol and Harry Robinson, Mini and Fred Page and Zelda and Will Wilkins—attended. Everyone enjoyed three days of golf. Next year's event will again be at the Plantation Inn and will be chaired by Jim Tofias and Bob Berry.
During March Peter Barker appeared in Unfinished Business at the American Theatre of Actors in New York City. Ron Dougherty continues to make your secretary's job easier by receiving awards. Ron was chosen as the 2003 president of the Ohio State Bar Foundation board of trustees. The Ohio State Bar Foundation is a public charity dedicated to promoting public understanding of the law and improvements in the justice system throughout Ohio.
The department of orthopaedic surgery and the scoliosis service of the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City announced the first David B. Levine Honorary Lecture. The hospital created this annual lecture to honor Dave Levine. Dave spent his medical career at the hospital and is a world renowned expert on scoliosis.
The second '54 cruise, chaired by Don Berlin and John Fenn, is being planned as a post-reunion cruise in late September 2 004. The boat will sail from Venice down the Dalmatian Coast, stopping at Pula, Split, Korcula, Dubrounick and Zadar and returning to Venice with a stop in Ravenna, Italy. There will be an optional extension to remain in Venice, pre-or post-cruise. If you have not already expressed your interest, contact Don or John.
