Life is crazy. As you can see by the address below, I've moved again. I thought about writing a book on the towns around Boston and the best places to live, shop, and eat, but I suppose I should make it through the next 600 words before I do any more writing. In August, Dan Allen and I went to Philadelphia to attend the beautiful wedding of Jamie Hurwitz and Jim Perrello. Joining us in Philly were Melissa Rich (started at Wharton this fall), Jennifer Sandoval (teaches history in NYC) and her husband, Mike Faherty, Tina Mabley (pursuing an M.BA. at the University of Texas in Austin), Christine Blanchet (finishing her M.BA. at UCLA), Robin Kalish (ob/gyn resident in Long Island), Leslie Segal (pediatrics resident at Philly's Children's Hospital), Paul Jacoby (I can't remember what he's doing), and Andy Perloff '93.
After Jamie's wedding, I met Tom Brodie, Paru Mital, and Mike Mahoney in Seattle for a week's visit with Brett Kelleran, a most excellent host. Kristen Morrow joined us for a day before she and Brad Johnson went to the San Juan Islands for a much-deserved vacation. Kristen, who works for Ford, had just finished a rough two weeks in Arizona doing hot-weather testing on the new line of Escorts.
Jen Klein wrote to follow-up on fiance Jack Newsom's letter announcing their engagement. Funny that both Jack and Jen include the word "finally" when discussing their engagement. After an eight-year courtship, they decided they've waited long enough; the wedding will be in June 1997 after Jack graduates from Tuck. Their wedding is just a few weeks after the wedding of Tim Zeilman and Corey Quinn, who will marry in Hanover. Tim is a lawyer in Hartford, Conn., and Corey is working on her master's in education at Brown. Jen, incidentally, works for Chubb Insurance as manager of the Excess Casualty division (in Weston, Conn.).
Jason Venokur writes from Los Angeles, where he says he doesn't receive any mail. Unfortunately, Jason had nothing more to say, so I have no idea what he's doing out there.
Last winter, luger Cammie Myler took the bronze medal at the World Cup finals in Oberhof, Germany, and then returned to Lake Placid to capture her team-high sixth national title. Cammie made the papers again in June, when she gave a luge demonstration at the University of New Hampshire. To make the demonstration possible, a luge ramp and wheeled sleds were trucked to New Hampshire from Lake Placid, where Cammie lives and trains.
Last year, after graduating from the Oklahoma University College of Law, J. Matthew Thompson joined the Oklahoma City law firm of Mock, Schwabe, Waldo, Elder, Reeves & Bryant, where he will practice civil litigation. Speaking of lawyers, 'Erik Bliss writes from New York City, where he is clerking for a judge until February 1997. Then Erik will return to hometown San Diego to work for a law firm and marry Brittan Morel (no connection to Dartmouth, according to Erik).
I received an e-mail from Shari Hubert, who was promoted at Merck and moved from Boston to Philadelphia. Shari reports that Myriam Pierre and Sharon Hoskins (formerly Toomer) both started law school this year, at Northwestern and NYU, respectively, and Monica Hooks is studying at Wharton.
Brian Gordon and his wife, Margo, recently bought a house in Wethers field, Conn. In his time away from his job at a pension administration company, Brian took refresher courses on lawnmowing.
See you in June 1997 for our fifth! Take care and keep in touch.
