All of a sudden, we're only one year away from our fifth Reunion! I hope that '92s from near and far are planning to get themselves to Hanover next June. This will be big.

Jon Kohl is working on his master's in environmental studies at Yale, focusing on environmental education and national parks in Latin America. Denise Massari is using her extensive romance language background to teach Spanish, Italian, and Latin at St. Luke's School in New Canaan, Conn. Denise will also coach basketball and softball. Melinda Waterhouse received her master's in French literature from the University of Michigan, and is now completing a Ph.D. Krysia Carmel, who graduated from the Villanova School of Law, is an associate with Barrick & McKay in Charlottesville, Va. Krysia will specialize in equine matters, including personal and horse injury litigation, sales and insurance disputes, lease agreements, and risk management for the horse industry. The next time you need a horse lawyer, call Krysia. Jenna Russell is a reporter for the Anderson Independent-Mail in Anderson, S.C.

Jeff Whitley wrote from Sunnyvale, Calif., where he lives with Jeff Cobb and Chris Bingham. Jeff Whitley graduated from Michigan Law School, and is now an intellectual property litigator in San Jose. This month, he will marry a Northwestern grad in the Northwestern chapel. Jeff Cobb works for Apple, and, according to Whitley, has started serious weight training in an attempt to put on a few pounds. Chris works for Netscape, and, on a flyfishing trip to New Zealand, caught a ten-pound brown trout with only two feet of leader. In another claim to fame, Chris recently gave the Sunnyvale Police a tip that helped them nab an armed fugitive. Ho hum.

Nathan Shafer e-mailed from outside of Denver, where he lives with his wife Sharon Keeling '90. Nathan and Sharon, who freelance as photographers, have started a wedding photo business. In addition, Nathan plays bass and Sharon sings lead for their band in Denver. Nathan keeps in touch with Erika Bartholomew, who returned to Maine to make a go as a writer.

Gretchen Almy writes from Chicago, where she works for Leo Burnett and dabbles in community theater. Gretchen says that Chicago is overrun with '92s, and reported on a few of them: DanielleTornello Dean and Mark Moeller work with Gretchen at LB. Mark and Pam Lang are engaged (Pam is at Stanford Business School). Kelly Shriver writes for a healthcare weekly, and is visited regularly by Thies Kolln. Courtney Gilbert is engaged to Jim Keating '93. Eric Vratimos works for Mercer Management and AshleyO'Neill is working on her M.B.A. at Kellogg. Julia Hynes, our hard-working newsletter editor, works in Philadelphia. I'll skip the numerous rumors to just say that Whitney Allen is doing something related to dancing in San Francisco.

This winter Elizabeth Terry returned from a two-year Peace Corps stint in Senegal. After training and taking French lessons for three months in one of Senegal's largest cities, Elizabeth was sent to the village of Mbarom Diop, where only one of the 400 villagers actually spoke French, Senegal's official language. Elizabeth was unprepared to speak Wolof, the local dialect, but slowly learned how to communicate. Before too long Elizabeth was working with local teachers to include environmental issues in the curriculum and help villagers plant their crops to avoid soil depletion. Elizabeth described the villagers as "very warm, welcoming people," and already misses their peace-loving nature.

Take care and keep in touch!
