Literary Honor

Blanche Gelfant, emerita professor of English, has been named the 27th recipient of the Hubbell Award. Established by the American Literature Section of the Modern Language Association, the award recognizes lifetime achievement in the study and understanding of American literature. Gelfant is only the second woman in a list of honorees that includes Robert Penn Warren, Alfred Kazin, and Lewis Mumford.
