My mailbox runneth over, but I guess I can only go through one letIter at a time, so here goes...I must begin first with a little plug for Ken Corwen: "I recently became an investor in a new restaurant that opened in March on the corner of 86th and Broadway in NYC. It's called 'Holy Cow' and serves steaks and other American style food." Well, kids, if that does not tantalize your taste buds, there's more..."There's also a downstairs bar called 'The Udder Club,' which will be used for private parties." Hmmm, clever. Many '94s have already stopped in to help Ken get a little return on his investment. Andy Blackwell, MattPeck, Matt Peterson, lan Picache, KristinSiuda, and Betsy Hawkanson all celebrated St. Patrick's Day there with Ken. According to an article Ken sent me about the place, Yankee announcer Phil Rizuto was the inspiration for the steakhouse. Among the partners are many New York sports figures, like Brian Leetch of the Rangers, Pat Kelly of the Yankees, fighter Shannon Briggs, and Howard Cross of the Giants. So, as the article aptly states, if you happen to be walking by and are wondering "what's behind the bovine sign?" wonder no more. Just stop in and enjoy the food and spirits.
Other non dairy related news from Ken: "Saurabh Kapadia and I still live together on the upper east side. Jeff Buehler, when not in the Cornell Med School Library, has been skiing and playing something that slightly resembles golf." Spencer Stevens, after skiing with Jeff, Matt Peterson, and Brad Whiting up in Maine, is now somewhere in Mexico working for a traveling doctor. "It's rumored," says Ken, "that they're trying to determine if tequila cures the common cold." Let me give you a little tip, boys it doesn't.
On to other news. Fred Malloy wrote in to inform us of some pretty important events—the most important of these is that, yes, Fred is tying the knot. He was engaged in April to Austin Simmons '95. "We've been together since junior spring and it's time to take the plunge!" Fred writes, "We're getting married in the spring of '97 in Orlando, Fla." Fred is currently working at Morgan Stanley, and Austin is an account exec at McCann Erikson advertising (both in NYC). When Fred wrote, he was headed to the summer Olympics with Brian Buenneke (who is working at Lehman Bros in San Fran), MattFitzgerald (Fleet Bank in Stamford, Conn.), Dave Shaff (UMass Medical), and, possibly, Baldwin Way (UCLA grad school). "We're going to watch TedMurphy win a medal for the U.S.in the heavyweight eight man event," writes Fred. They will also be cheering on Greg Lewis, who took time off from Rochester Medical School to try out for the Olympic sculling team, and made the team! Odd-EvenBustnes who is on the Norwegian national team, is also hoping to qualify for the games. Good luck to all of you!
Well, I have so much more to report, but I am out of room and out of time. More to come from this mail pile! Take care, and keep writing...
