Well, the leaves are changing, and the north wind is surely blowing across the Hanover Plain by now, but most '94s won't feel that familiar chill this fall as they try to make a mark on the real world. Many will leave their textbooks in a trail of dust behind them this year as they let life experiences teach them for a change.
For example, Jordan Friedman is driving down the West Coast to Fort Huachuca in Arizona, where he will spend six months in the army's Military Intelligence Officers' Basic Course. Last I heard from AndrewKersey, he was also heading west, but not to study farther or join the corporate world. Instead, you might look for Andrew on the silver screen in the next few years, as he gives Hollywood a chance to notice him. JenJameson will be touring worldwide with the New World Symphony for a year. But she will be in New York and D.C. this April, and hopes to see some familiar faces then. AllyHyun is working for NBC as the Olympic Research intern for the 1996 Olympics.
Did you know that Greg Lewis took home a Gold Medal from the last day of the U.S. Olympic Festival back in July? Greg rowed in the winning shell of the men's open fours with coxswain. Congratulations, Greg! And speaking of legendary '94 athletes, the Dartmouth football season would not be complete without mention of our very own All-Ivy Quarterback star Jay Fiedler. Jay has signed a two-year free-agent contract with the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles. Good luck, Jay— we'll keep cheering for you!
As for those hard-core academics intent on staying students for just a wee bit longer, this fall brings more books and more allnighters. Good luck to all grad students, such as Lloyd Lee, who is bringing some Dartmouth Green to Stanford. Betsy Bennett has also headed west to study at UC San Francisco. And Sarah Jacobson has fled from the cold Dartmouth winters too and joined the West Coast crew at UC Berkeley. You can add another name to the list of Harvard- bound '94s as Carnell Chosa joins the Crimson contingency this fall. Other studious '94s include all those Thayer folks who will remain in Hanover to finish Engines and walk away with their B.E. this spring. Hey, at least you all have a second chance for an outdoor commencement!
Well, I have many more little bits of info, but they will just have to wait until next month, because I want to end this article with long-overdue congratulations to the newest newlyweds (I think) in our class. Best wishes to Ken and Laura Lee (Hardegree)Davis, who tied the knot in July. I heard the wedding was a huge affair, with more than 500 people in attendance—a regular Dartmouth reunion for many, I'm sure! Best of luck to both of you in your shared life together.
And just a final note for everyone: If you have any big news like an engagement, wedding, or perhaps even the pitter patter of little feet in the distant future, please write to me immediately so I can report your good news properly, without having to hear it secondhand. I know that for most of us these days, employment is about as big as life changes get, but remember, I'm here for the next five years, so learn my address, write it down, and USE IT! Please. Good luck and take care.
