Retirement is not for ShortyThomas. He's still employed by the Cheshire (Conn.) Board of Education as a fulltime teacher at Cheshire High School. He's starting his 17th year in September. Rena Lynn Moore, widow of our late classmate Ed, is still living in a retirement community in Walnut Creek, Calif.—near the ones, we think, that house Giselle Collins and Ed and Babs Klee—and is active in the camera and trail clubs. In June she went on a photography safari in Africa.

Art and Alma Eriksen are happily enjoying their community of 300 in Meadow Lakes, Hightstown, N.J., just a few miles west of Princeton. There are a few Dartmouth people there, though many more from Princeton, says Art, but they enjoy the athletic events whenever a Dartmouth team is in town.

Betty Gregory Lauppe, widow of TedGregory, and her husband, Carl, took a trip in late March on the S.S. Staatendam from Fort Lauderdale through the Panama Canal to Los Angeles.

In L.A. they hosted a get-together and dinner for members of the Gregory family, ten in all, children and grandchildren, the latter aged 3-32 years.

I spoke to Katch Cerow the other day and she said that Vinnie is feeling quite low, saddened by the death of DaveCallaway and discouraged because of painful back problems. They were in Florida in mid-April and he spent four weeks in a Florida hospital with a compressed vertabra before they came home to Connecticut.

Ethelyn Hedges Rather, widow of our classmate, Dave (and of her second husband Roy Rather as well), expresses her pleasure and satisfaction with Gholson Lyon '96, recipient of her David T. Hedges Scholarship. Gholson started a seven-to-nine year folly funded M.D. and Ph.D. program in genetic research at Cornell Medical School on July 14, and has spend the past year at Christ College, Cambridge, England, on a Rotary International scholarship.

Lee Hine tells me that Al is now in an assisted living facility near their home in Old Lyme, Conn., doing well and in good physical condition, but he does have serious medical problems.
