We had a delightful vacation in Vero Beach, Fla., and went out for lunch and dinner with a number of our friends including Anne Shea, wife of our late classmate Babe. She looks great and we had a lot of fun reminiscing about Dartmouth, our classmates and their wives and in particular Lois Frankel who, with her late husband Moe, lived in Madison, Conn., where Anne and Babe Shea lived before moving to Florida.
What a delightful winter season Gerry and Em Day must have had—Em in Anchorage, Alaska, to visit daughter, Sherry, and her family over the holidays and then Gerry joined them just after Christmas, and around mid-January two weeks later, back to Chicago, Em's stamping grounds, and finally to Hanover area on a permanent basis.
Jack Shea and his family hit the headlines, again. In the January 6 issue of USA Today there was a front page, and then another half page, with seven pictures of Jack and his family. The May issue of DAM carried one of the photos. In the Lake PlacidNews of February 25 to March 2 it was front-page news with a picture of Jack, a double gold medal winner in the 1932 Olympics; son Jim, a 1964 Olympic contestant; and grandson Jimmy, who won the gold medal in the recent Goodwill Games in Skeleton and will be competing in the 2002 Olympics. I doubt if there is any family in the world who has three generations of Olympians as do the Sheas. Jack was named honorary chairman of the Winter Senior Games in Lake Placid held in February.
It is with sadness we report the death of our classmate, Hubert Johnson. We extend our sympathy to his family.
