Pherabe Kolb writes from Washington, D.C., where she recently started a new position as a reporter at Congressional Quarterly. Pherabe of House and Senate committees for one of CQ's online publications. "Quite a lesson in 'Capitol Hill-speak,'" writes Pherabe. "I never thought I would use words like 'cloture' and 'appropriation' in everyday conversation but I'm afraid it has happened." So far, she is really enjoying it. Pherabe has also been running into many Dartmouth folks these days. At a D.C. party for some '93s hiking the entire Appalachian Trail to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Pherabe ran into Rich Hoffman '93, Alicia Jennings '96, and the '93 hikers, Scott Molinaroli, Clay Adams, and Jim Keating. She also visited Boston, where she saw Lauren DeLong, who just finished business school at Babson, and JenHanley, who is doing investment banking at Brown Brothers-Harriman. "These days Jen has become a local celebrity of sorts," writes Pherabe, "as she has taken to announcing high school girls' basketball for a local cable station." Thanks for all the updates, Pherabe. Please write if you run into more people, or if Jen starts a commentating career for ESPN! Lexie Riley is living in San Francisco and working as a Corporate Finance Analyst at Montgomery Securities. "I feel like I am back at Dartmouth with so many '94s out here," writes Lexie. John Brennan finally tore himself away from his home state of New Flampshire about a year ago and moved to the D.C. area. "I'm still living in Alexandria, Va., and taking full advantage of living in a city for the first time in my life," writes John. "It still blows my mind that most anything I want is only two blocks away—I'm still used to making a Lebanon run." He has recently switched from the field of international health to association work. If you are ever in the D.C. area and find yourself fearing for your personal safety in any way, do keep John in mind, as he has also been busy training with a Grandmaster of several different martial arts, and has just earned a black-belt in Jujitsu. "I hope I'll complete one in Judo in the next couple of months." Ever consider the secret service, John? Okay, I am now out of mail, so I am going to have to play the "did you know?" game, which means that this is just stuff that I have found out from various other Dartmouth sources (i.e., the web page, Alumni Records, spies, etc.). Did you know that Katy Hayes and RichFried are getting married on Lab or Day? Did you know that Kim Blanchard is at Rutgers getting a Ph.D. in psychology? Did you know that Tyler Young and Melinda Holl '96 will be married in September in Haddonfield, N.J.? Rick Sahuc, Brett Wilkerson, and Chris McDowell will be in the wedding. Did you know that AJ Goldman and his wife Niki, have a beautiful baby named Kelsey Margaret who will be a year old in October? Did you know that our web page is ? Use it. But until I am back online again (which I promise will be soon), please continue sending me mail the old-fashioned way. I know it's a chore, but isn't bold print worth it? I hope you're all well, and I hope to have some confirmation of your wellness in the near future—in writing, of course
