Drew Remignanti has triumphed over a totally unexpected stroke in 1992, caused by a clotting abnormality. After earning his medical degree from UMDNJ-Rutgers Medical School in 1980, Drew practiced emergency medicine from 1983-92. After the stroke, Drew was unable to practice emergency medicine for five years, but never gave up his dream to return to it. From 1992-97, he did overseas volunteer work in medicine, and from 1995-97 he was medical director of The Clinic Community Health Center in Durham, N.H., functioning as a family practice doctor. In May Drew even completed a master of public health degree, which would have prepared him for a career shift into international public health. Joyously, as of June, Drew is back in emergency medicine with Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Mass., and living in Newmarket, N.H.
Drew is engaged to be married in June 1998 to Darby Johnson, Wellesley '83. He has three children from his first marriageKirk 16, Ben 14, and Laine 10. Drew took up scuba diving after his stroke, and still plays soccer and tennis. He would love to hear from any fellow Dartmouth soccer team players.
