Head Agent John Walters's September letter arrived a few days ago. At first I groaned and put it asideyet another appeal to work harder and dig deeper for Dartmouth College. Later, I picked up John's letter and read it through more carefully. John takes the historical approach in viewing the fund-raising activities of the class of '62. Significant dollar contributions from us started with "JohnClark's emergence as head agent in 1972" and were on a roll with the fabulous 2 sth Reunion in 1987 when Barry Alperin and MikeRouzee were head agents. I put the letter down and daydreamed—Where did Clark emerge from anyway? Where did he get such energy and resourcefulness to raise funds for the College? We note that his enthusiasm continues to this day. Then the image of Alperin and Rouzee at the 25th farewell dinner in the Berry Sports Arena surfaced. They threaded their way around the festive dinner tables in a dignified sort of gavotte, putting the arm on the last ones of us who hadn't pledged. Vermont Supreme Court Judge Jim Morse was equally poised and dignified—but he was putty in their hands. And that was even before the spectacular green-and-white balloon drop!

I got out the 1962 Aegis and looked up Walters. Sure enough, John was a history major! I'm thinking perhaps we should all try harder, if for no other reason than to honor an Animal House history major who made good and gives back to the College. It's just a thought.

Alan Rapaport writes saying that Arja and he enjoy their second year as empty nesters. He also comments on his activities as a neurologist and headache specialist. If you or your loved ones have Excedrin Headache '62, swing by the New England Center for Headache in Connecticut (how come, Alan, not against headache?). JimGodsman picked up on the September column and four-star General TomMoorman. He opines that Tom is the highest-ranking officer in the U.S. Armed Forces ever to graduate from Dartmouth College. Jim enclosed a fine color photograph from the retirement festivities showing seven classmates, all Phi Delts, who had come to Washington.from all over the country for Tom's retirement. In addition to Tom and Jim are Larry Peltola, TomDavies, Marshall Potterton, GeorgeBrannen, and Dick Centracchio.

Ted Beal wrote with some poignant reflections on the June Reunion. Ted, who practices psychiatry in Bethesda and Washington, is a good observer. His thoughtful letter makes the Reunion play again in my mind. Neal Drobny wrote about his new business, Capital Recovery Group Inc., which provides innovative financial mechanisms to companies in contaminated property cleanup. The Dartmouth alumni records office sent along a nice piece about Warren "Zog"Loomis. Zog founded Logic Associates, a software producer for managers in the graphic arts industry in 1970. Recently, Logic Associates merged with Covalent Corp. Zog is chairman and chief technical officer of the new company. Love that mail.
