Winter Recap
APRIL 1997

Mild. Relatively speaking. The ice on Occom Pond didn't get thick enough for hockey (or figure skating) until January 22. On the day before Winter Carnival, sun and unseasonable warmth brought down the snow sculpture on the Green. In what appeared to be a battle of good and evil, the sculpted knight on horseback collapsed, splintering its internal frame, leaving only the dragon standing. The Carnival ski races went off without a hitch.
