Classmates connect in interesting ways in their professional lives. For example, John Towle has long run a successful business out of Miami representing leading publications in Latin America. These publications are in the form of newspapers, magazines, trade publications, and electronic media. Fairly recently, Randy Malin headed Travel Net, a Santa Clara (Calif.) based firm specializing in software for corporate travel management. Travel Net was recently acquired by Reed Travel Group, whose publications account for a sizable fraction of John's business.

And F. Scott Bush writes: "...Finally retired from E.P.A. and rebuilt a burnedout farmhouse in West Virginia [with the help of] my cousin, [the late] Robert Peck '60, a distinguished foreign service officer who died four years ago after a long illness. Designing [a] house and working with both architect and builder is a wonderful [albeit time-consuming] experience. ...I linked up with the National Environmental Policy Institute, directing a study on 'reinventing' environmental policy... [i]t involves picking the brains of 'the best and the brightest,' synthesizing their ideas on how to improve environmental management systems, and publishing them as reports. Our most recent one is on integrating environmental policy by means of a unified statute. I had the great pleasure of working closely on the project with J. Clarence 'Terry' Davies III, former head of E.P.A.'s policy shop in the Bush (no relation) administration who is now working with Resources for the Future, another Washington think tank. Terry did a similar study almost ten years ago. We are definitely 'pushing the envelope' and thinking 'outside the box.' After almost 30 years in Washington, I may be becoming naive enough to think that there is a good chance of getting the government to do things more effectively. At least we are getting a lot of exposure and having a good time doing so...Was out in San Francisco around the New Year holiday and had a great time with Bill and Marty Beshore, both of whom are doing well..."
