When I took on the secretarial role, I felt there were three challenges meet deadlines, write proper English, and reach beyond my fraternity brothers and teammates for news. For the record I made no deadlines but only failed to get published once in 45 tries. I learned that to write this column requires little or no coherent sentence structure. And I found there were plenty of diverse and interesting classmates to write about. The joy of the job was in making new contacts, renewing old relationships, and rekindling the enthusiasm for the College many of us felt so strongly 20-odd years ago. I hope you shared some of the same. As we welcome our new secretary, please make the job easier. If you get a call, return it. If you get an email, reply to it. If you hear something or do something great or fun or dumb, tell us about it. And remember "If you don't like the news, go out and make some of your own." So long.
