In this season of Thanksgiving, let us pause to give thanks and share those things we have to be thankful for. Joe Hunter is thankful to be engaged to Anne van Roden. I saw Joe back on St. Patrick's Day weekend when he was in town for a big rugby tournament. St. Patrick's Day is to Savannah what Winter Carnival is to Dartmouth. When I went to see Joe play rugby, the wind was blowing cold rain, and bodies and beer cups lay strewn across the field. For a minute, I thought I was back in Hanover. In any event, Joe has been most recently in Tampa, Fla., as assistant to the president of a shipping company.
Bruce Allyn is thankful to have been inducted into the Hall of Fame of Grants Pass (Oregon) High School. Did you see Bruce on "60 Minutes?" He looks more Russian than the Russians. Since Dartmouth, Bruce has earned a degree in political philosophy from Oxford University and a graduate degree in Soviet Studies from Harvard. Tell me, Bruce, is the Soviet Union really the "evil empire?"
Beth Baron is thankful to be a visiting instructor in the department of history at Franklin and Marshall College. Beth received an M.A. from the University of London and is finishing up a Ph.D. at UCLA.
Carla (Boehm) and Ed Sloan are grateful for their little girl, Courtney Allyn Sloan. Leigh (Limbach) and Roy "Johnson are grateful for their baby boy, Calvin Karl Johnson.
I am grateful that I had the opportunity to go to Dartmouth. I am thankful for the good times I had, the lasting friendships I made, and the talented teachers who taught and challenged me.
I am grateful I have not been running the Dukakis campaign since the Republican convention. However, I am especially ful that I did not choose Dan Quayle to be my running mate.
Please send me news of yourselves. If you send a picture, please make it a good one. Color is possible now, but make it a great one. P.S. I have a cryptic note to myself in my file about marriage and Brian Boyer and Rob Daisley. Can anyone help me figure out what this means? You see, I am really desperate for news.
