I've yet to check with Dartmouth's alumni relations office to see whether this is an annually occurring phenomenon, but the occasion of our Reunion last June seemed to touch off a bit of a baby boom in our class. Witness this list of springtime arrivals:
Mike and Chrissie Stearns Drescher welcomed Sarah Leslie "Sunny" on March 2.
David and Nancy Davis Lyness welcomed Katherine Grace "Kate" on March 26. Apparently, Kate was the longest newborn the hospital had seen in over six months.
Tim '85 and Mary McArtor Reynolds and daughter Madison were joined by Ryan Timothy on March 29. Mary is a stay-at-home mom and is very active in the Junior League of Pittsburgh, the Dartmouth Club of Western Pa., her high school, and her church.
Ed and Sue Axelrod Emanuel and daughter Elizabeth welcomed John Patrick on April 9.
• Sue also reports that Glenn and Sarah Powell Goldman have a new baby boy.
• Per and Colette Bourquin Nygren and daughter Annika were joined by Alexandra Linnea on April 17.
• And finally, my husband and I had our first child, Brian John, on April 11. Any more spring arrivals out there? Let me know-perhaps Dartmouth could do a study on alumni fertility rates immediately following 10th reunions.
Our own Olympian, Liz Mclntyre, is in the news again. She is busy preparing for the 1998 Olympics in Nagano, and placed third in the Key Bank Freestyle International moguls contest at Whiteface Mountain in January.
Frank Doyle has been promoted at LaSalle Partners. His new title is senior vice president of management services and regional leasing director for New York City. He oversees the firm's seven-million- square-foot real estate portfolio in New York, and in 1994 received LaSalle's "Marketer of the Year" award for excellence in New York property marketing.
News came via e-mail from Sharon Grayzel Dodson. She married Jeff Dodson last summer in Boston, celebrating with classmates Melissa Duarte Phillips, Stacey Wolff, Anne Kubik, Mike Krupka, Kacky Corcoran, Sarah Donahue, and Barbara Stradling. Sharon is a veterinarian in Portland, Ore., and she and Jeff keep busy fixing up their great old house.
Finally, I would like to include the entire text of an e-mail I received from John Street:
"This issue of the Alumni Magazine made me stop and think about all that has happened since we graduated 10 years ago this month. The short story is that I moved to L.A., where I met my wife-to-be, Hollywood makeup artist Melissa Stancil. We got married and settled down to live in Las Vegas and have two beautiful children, Amanda and Chelsea. I run the video production company for Equinox International (Inc. 500's #1 fastest growing privately held company in America) and our life is busy and happy. The reason I'm writing to you, though, is to have you help me express my thanks to our Dartmouth family for the support they have given me and my family. My 18-month-old daughter Chelsea was diagnosed with leukemia and the entire focus in our lives shifted. This month, we are celebrating the end of three long years of chemotherapy. Chelsea is in full remission and will be enrolled in kindergarten in the fall. We called on the strength of many of our Dartmouth friendships to help us through the emotional turmoil we experienced. Despite the terrors of the past few years, we have come out of this experience with fuller lives and richer relationships and we are thankful that our daughter is healthy and whole again." There's not much I can add to that. Note my change of address below.
