Rob Stephenson and Mike Jarvis would have liked to spend the last reunion evening reminiscing at DKE house. But a wrecker's ball back in 1971 ended that possibility. So, joined by Jerry Herlihey, they took their bottle of champagne to another venue. Reunion imagery is a wonderful blending of past and present. Dick Morgan emerges from North Fayerweather, heartily greets a new arrival, and hurries off. Near the tent, DickBerkowitz, cigar in hand, engages in serious talk with Steve Swirsky.

Reunion talk varies...about the politics of Canada if you're Roger Parkinson, Toronto newspaper publisher, or about matters more intimate as others rediscover how much they have in common. Hear how Susan and Pete Rotch renovated their barn to the satisfaction of the preservation commissioners of Amherst, N.H.

Reunion ages vary. Julia Boldt, daughter of Kelly and Dave, at 11 months is the youngest. Taylor Washing 2 1/2, son of Susan and Tom, will have to settle for second. Sally and Gary Lange are here from Seattle with their three children, and Barbara and Chris Harvey come from Baltimore with Ryan 14, who has to forego skateboarding this week, and Brett 16, who wins the foot race in the afternoon. Russell and Jack Huber of Atlanta enjoy the box lunch. Margie and Rich Dickinson, Topsfield, Mass., visited daughter Sally, who's working on a Dartmouth organic farm.

Steve Lister, New York, announces he's about to retire from Colgate after count'em—34 years. Carolyn Swett, Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, with daughters Dianna and Laura wait while dad DickSwett, an orthopedic surgeon, gets treated at Dartmouth Medical Center for a gallstone. Nadia and Peter Stevenson of Bahrain, near Saudi Arabia, have learned that their daughter Julie '94 will teach next year at Hanover High. Johanna '91 lives in Rockport, Mass.

Joan Swirsky describes some '63 panel discussions. In "Overcoming Adversity" Johannes von Trapp related how a fire and then family discord seriously threatened his career as hotelier. Steve Rosen described his triumph over depression; Dave Schaefer and Tim Ratner recalled their battles against heart disease and cancer. In "Meeting the Challenges of Middle Age" Petie Subin (Bill) described mother- hood and career conflict; therapists Antra and Rich Borofsky stressed the need for making time to love in a relationship. BillPurcell recounted caring for a mother-in- law with Alzheimer's.

"Giving Back to the Community" featured Kevin Lowther on the satisfactions of a career helping people of Africa, KenNovak on giving free legal service to battered women, and Ken Kvistad on becoming an ordained minister and humanitarian after receiving support for his recovery from alcoholism.

Dan Matayola relates later how he visited ex-radio buddies Drent Cromley in Montana and Sturges Dorrance in Seattle. Alike Prince says reunions represent pivotal moments in his life. Bob Haubrich from the north of Canada, makes new friends at reunions. ChuckRacine, biologist, is on his way to Alaska for government research. Chicagoan GeoffMurphy advises ailing companies on how to come back.

See you at the mini-reunion Oct. 16-17 in Hanover.
