Edwin Drechsel '36 writes: "I am taking the liberty of excerpting part of what Hope Frey has written to my wife and me tor Christmas: 'I am staying here (in Dresden, Maine) for the holidays, the first time since Al passed away, maybe the winter, in order to enjoy this ambiance while 'the earth lies cloaked in beauty and in peace.' Deer, wild turkeys, partridges, pheasants, eagles, including those that built by the river last spring, a snowy owl, cardinals, and other birds now that I have painted the feeder red... are about. Coyotes howl in the evening. I'm involved in some town organizations that were meeting into last week [this written on December 17, 1997]. If I continue to go to a family place in Nantucket, as I have been doing for a number of years for three weeks, perhaps you could join me there, or here...'"
