Dr. Michael Sporn a scientist at Dartmouth Medical School who coined the term chemoprevention, has received the 21st annual Bristol-Myers Squibb Award for Distinguished Achievement in Cancer Research. The $50,000 prize recognizes Sporn's development of synthesized retinoids, chemopreventives derived from vitamin A, which are safer and more effective than other cancer treatments.
