Class president Bob Eleveld called to suggest I put in one final reminder about Dartmouth Night weekend and the events that Joe Jacquet has planned for our annual mini-reunion. Following the torchlight parade and bonfire on Friday, Oct. 22, there will be a gathering at the X Club, just across Ledyard Bridge, hosted by Sally Prescott. Because the Saturday kickoff against Cornell is at noon to meet the demands of the Ivy Football television schedule, the class meeting will be at 8:30, at a place to be announced in the flyer you will receive from Joe. Susan and Peter Williamson, our normal hosts, are out of the country that weekend. Following the meeting there will be tailgating at DaveBradley's law offices beside the Hanover Coop on South Park Street, a five- minute walk to the stadium. After the game there will be a reception and dinner at the Alden Inn in Lyme. Those who have attended, and there are quite a few regulars, can all attest to a fun weekend greeting classmates and spouses or significant others. If you haven't made it for this event for awhile, you really should try. It will be well worth the trip.

Incidentally, Dave Bradley just completed his annual bicycle ride of 100 miles on a Saturday morning, and through his sponsors raised over $15,000 in support of the Norris Cotton Cancer Center here in Hanover.

Bob also gave me lots of news about his neighbor John Jones, who is now fully retired and spends seven months a year in Florida, where he plays a lot of golf with Don Angell. He is building a home there in the next year and will become a full-time resident. In the mean time he wants anyone interested in golf to know that his address is 8246 Quail Meadow Way, West Palm Beach, 33412, and his telephone is (561) 775-0266. Anybody who gives address and phone number inviting a game must be serious about the invitation and the game. Get strokes! John also wanted to issue a personal challenge to John Germani. In perhaps the biggest and best news the Jones family welcomed its first grandchild five months ago.

Speaking of grandparents, I caught up with Mary and Don Thomas just two days before their second granddaughter was to be born. Don is now retired but uses his longtime hobby of making model ships as a source of activity, not to mention income. They still are in Sudbury in the home they have occupied for the past 31 years. Unfortunately it looks as if they will be visiting their other daughter in California and not be able to make Dartmouth Night. I hope that won't be the case for lots of others.
