In news from the West Coast, Jay Clark has left his post as senior vice president in the San Jose office of Manning, Selvage and Lee, one of the top ten public relations firms in the world, to become executive vice president of Eiler Communications, a high-technology public relations and marketing firm headquartered in Ann Arbor, Mich., with offices in San Mateo, Calif., and Phoenix, Ariz. Jay will be responsible for Eiler's Western operations and based in San Mateo.

I caught up with another fellow named Clark. Charlie Clark and his wife, Jo Ann, are living in Brookline, Mass. Both are therapists in private practice with their offices near enough to walk to each day. Charlie also has had an active practice in Providence for the past 20 years, but is in the process of closing it down because of all his work in the Boston area. At the moment, he is engaged heavily in group and individual therapy with terminally ill patients. He and JoAnn are about to shove off for R and R in Marathon Key and plan to hang it up "...in a couple of years, buy a mobile home, and travel all the United States." The only classmate he has seen in years is Dave Chapin, and he assured me it was not in therapy.

The Medical School newsletter carried a piece about Stu Slingerland, who is still actively practicing in a large pediatric group in Provo, Utah. He and Suzanne are enjoying their seven children and one grandchild. The piece noted that Stu had an interesting and professionally rewarding experience in his year at Long Binh, South Vietnam, caring for the GIs and the many orphaned children in that land. Stu is looking forward to medical missions upon his retirement. Hearing from Stu and other classmates who practiced in Third World countries would be an interesting session for our 45th Reunion. Speaking of reunions, a gaggle of '58s was at Bob Downey's Ninth Annual Keystone (Colo.) weekend. Included in the group were Hal Bernsen, Dave Bradley, JimGeier, Bruce Gemberling, MikeGrowney, Charlie Henderson, BenMcAdams, Bob Meyerson, TrygMyhren, Dave Pratt, Barry Stompe, and Paul Wysard, along with a number from other classes and colleges. Nancy calls it Bob's Boys' Weekend.

For wired members of the class, the minutes of our class meeting are on our website. In the future the agenda will be posted prior to the meeting, followed by the minutes shortly thereafter. One item that came out of the October meeting was that we have no class project currently in place. In the past we have sponsored several, and we would like to be able to put another in place at the next class meeting in October. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated and considered. You can send them to John Murphy or me.

Let me hear from you.
