Waiting on Limp Bizkit here | at Woodstock '99. Hip-hop meets heavy metal. Sounds like me all over. Kids these days. The stuff they listen to!!! Looking for a familiar face or two, but alas, the hard rockers are fading fast. But I close my eyes and remember...
Meant to mention this ages ago. The board of directors of Fannie Mae have anointed Ann M. Kappler as senior vice president and deputy general counsel. As SVP and DGC Ann is responsible for supervising litigation activities and managing inhouse legal staff and outside counsel in the areas of employment law and regulatory issues. She joined the company Jan. 1, 1999.
Nicholas C. Theodorou, a partner at Foley, Hoag & Eliot, has been named marketing partner of the firm. As marketing partner, Nick will oversee the firm's marketing efforts, including firm-wide strategic planning, client development activities, practice group development, and community involvement. Nick has represented several major corporations and prominent individuals investigated for and charged with civil, criminal, and regulatory offenses. He has also conducted internal investigations for corporations that have been the victim of criminal activity, and he regularly advises corporations on a variety of regula- tory law and corporate compliance issues. Nick the Greek is a frequent author on corporate compliance and white-collar criminal law, has lectured on federal civil litigation at Harvard Law School and at the U.S. Department of Justice, and he has participated in several continuing legal education programs dealing with issues in corporate compliance, corporate criminal law, and complex investigations. A good guy to have on YOUR side, our Nick. Apologies for taking so long, Ann and Nick, and congratulations!!!
Our very own Paula Sharp headed up UC Berkeley's summer reading list for incoming freshmen with her "beautifully crafted saga of life, mental health, and the way law deals with families," Crows Over a Wheatfield. Quite an honor. Paula's book is in heady company: Genesis and Exodus, Einstein'sDreams, and Winnie the Pooh are among the 12 titles. At least I know Winnie...
And an update from Julia Fitch Brown; "As you could tell from our area code, we moved to Pittsburgh last summer to be close to (husband) Bob's mother. It was a great decision to move here—in addition to giving our daughters (Meredith 14 and Carol 9) a chance to know their grandmother better, the move has given us better schools, more opportunities professionally, and a more relaxed lifestyle. Bob is still in tax at Arthur Andersen and I am busy with Bible study fell owship (hoping to get a group in the southern part of Pittsburgh), church and school activities, racewalking, etc." Thanks for writing, Julia, wish more of you would...
